When Slapta Meilė decided that feelings should not only be heard but tasted, it all started with an idea. As always. Not with a product. Not with an advertising campaign. With the thought that a story can become a flavour. And that a flavour can tell a story.

Our work with Bokšto SPA began with one idea – to create relaxation rituals with a plot. Julija started with the story – from the chronicles of Vilnius, the letters of Barbara and Sigismund, the secrets of the palace. We asked ourselves what relaxation would be like if it were made for royalty.

Julija – of course, Julija – starts with the symbolism. She draws the pattern, searches for motifs and chooses colours as if trying to remember a dream that no longer belongs only to her.

When Slapta Meilė decides a story is too beautiful to stay on paper, it calls on Pitex – makers of accessories and interior objects who can turn any story into an object worthy of pride, whispers and a shelf of its own.

Meduolių namai did not appear because there was a shortage of desserts. They appeared because Barbara Radziwiłł loved gingerbread. And that, let’s agree, is a piece of history worth trying to taste.

Slapta Meilė has long stopped walking alone. Sometimes its routes smell of silence, sometimes of vanilla, smoke and nostalgia. And this is where Candle Family steps in – Martynas and Greta, whose hands (and wax pot) turn stories into fragrant sculptures.

Restaurant “Lokys” is the oldest family restaurant in Vilnius, now run by the second generation of the same family. It tells the old stories of Lithuanian cuisine – of noble tables laden with the riches of the forest. Game, berries, mushrooms and nuts have long been an inseparable part of Lithuanian cooking.

Founded in Kaunas in 1945 as the State Fiction Publishing House, VAGA is the oldest fiction publisher in Lithuania. It has introduced and made famous many Lithuanian authors, brought the most valuable works of world literature to Lithuanian readers and gathered the finest authors, translators, editors and artists.

When Slapta Meilė starts working with ceramic artist Indrė of Mr Bowl Ceramics, nothing happens quickly. Because when a piece needs a backbone, character and the strength to hold soup, everything has to be very well thought out.

Virginija is the maker behind Ceramic Heart, a ceramicist. Her Christmas decorations are an elegant Renaissance curtsey.

The exhibition “Queen, Kingdom and Feelings” was held at the House of Histories of the National Museum of Lithuania. Julija Janus was the author of the idea and one of the curators. The exhibition revealed a new side of the history of the 16th-century Grand Duchy of Lithuania by telling the lives of two remarkable rulers – Barbara Radziwiłł and Catherine Jagiellon.
