Designer Julija Janus’s exhibition of stylised historical costumes “Slapta meilė” comes to Dubingiai
The famous love story between Sigismund Augustus, heir to the Lithuanian and Polish thrones, and Barbara Radziwiłł began in 1543. The four-year-long secret relationship became a public and much-discussed topic of the day after the marriage in the summer of 1547, according to a press release.
This brief tale of royal love remains unforgettable to this day and, even after five hundred years, continues to inspire artists and find expression in new forms. The Dubingiai festival “Greeting Queen Barbara” opens in the second month of summer with “Slapta meilė”, Julija Janus’s exhibition of stylised 16th-century royal costumes. The impressive costumes will be on display for two months at the Visitor Centre of the Dubingiai Asveja Regional Park.
